I took the RustyCrons, heavy on troops and tricks. Frankly, it's not a great tournament list, but it has teeth and I know how to use it. Ultimately, that's why I took it. I toyed with borrowing the Grey Knights I painted for the Little Tim That Could - but that would have been a mistake.
In one sense, experience, anyway! There were more Daemon armies than you cold shake a stick at!
Vargard Obyron. I painted this in the hour before the flight, and it shows... but this is one bad dude. I would have been better served dropping the Stormlord - 'cause frankly, that trick is tired - and sticking with this beatstick.

Funny, I recognized this style the moment I saw it. Bigger Barrera has a very distinctive look of washes and layers over grey.
Another shot at the RustyCrons. The Quad-Crystal was useless - did you know it can't shoot by itself? It's not an emplaced weapon, a la the Bastion. Since I believe you win in the movement phase (with this type of army, anyway) I hardly shot that damn thing.
We're still all shaking out the minutia of 6th.
A few pics of my last game against Kenny of Next Level Painting and his unreal-beautiful Daemons army.
He hit his preferred - which was a stacked drop - hit his drops - not so hard, nowadays - and played his game to the hilt.
Against an army geared around Fateweaver, the only good strategy is taking the Flying Chicken out. I never came close.
I'll go over the game in more detail in the future. Vacation is over - off to work!

Brent, I have also found another tactics that works against a Fateweaver build. I was playing my Eldar and spent two turns throwing everything at the Fateweaver to no avail. I then decided if I was goin to lose I'd make the Daemons pay. I then switched tactics and focused on everything but the Fateweaver. A turn and half later only the Fateweaver and a few others were standing.
It is kind of against the "best" advice but ccan work. Ignore the 'tank' and make the gribbles work, even with rerolls there will be failed saves. And a rerolledable 5++ will fails more then a 3++
I think you got hosed. I am almost positive the quad gun that you buy with the defense line is exactly the same as the one on the bastion.
The rulebook uses gun emplacement and emplaced guns interchangeably through out the rules.
In the FAQ it even calls both the bastion weapon and the defense line weapon a gun emplacement.
The Quad Gun on the Bastion and the Aegis Defense Line both follow the same rules. Neither of them have automatic fire, as they are Gun Emplacements and not Emplaced Weapons. Only Heavy Bolters (which are Emplaced Weapons) on the Bastion may autofire. All weapons on the Fortress are also Emplaced Weapons, so may autofire.
Rules for Gun Emplacements are on page 105 (Battlefield Debris). Rules for Emplaced Weapons are on page 96. I understand where the confusion comes in, but they are actually different game elements.
I was confusing the automatic fire ability with the Intercepter rule that allows them to fire at units entering from reserve.
