I played this past weekend in a small tournament at my FLGS, Galaxy Books and Comics. Little Barrera ran it using some battle missions he pulled from the internet. I'm on record as saying I'd like to see less complexity in tournament missions, since 6th Edition and the glorious number of new Codices and products adds dimension enough.

Warhammer 40K: 8000 per side...
What follows is a general pictorial. I've enlarged the pictures you may be interested in taking a closer look at, or you can roll through them quickly and breeze off to another part of the Blogosphere.
The Imperial line with four fortifications. The Mighty Mighty Carlos played an entire battle company of Dark Angels, and Doug played Guard with Allied Blood Angels.
The extreme left flank. There's a building in the Imperial deployment zone I intend to use as cover to avoid getting shot out of the air.
The game is well advanced. This mass of white marines is Doug's Death Company. Read that again.
The housekeeping was pretty ridiculous. Psychic powers...
This is the bottom of two.
Yeah.
At this point, Chaos has stormed the board, but casualties on both sides were fairly ridiculous.
The Hoff took Warp Talons. As he kept reminding us. I guess it was his nod to fair play or something!
The right flank was firmly in our evil grasp...
At this point, Daemons have swarmed the fortifications - I don't think we actually took a swing at the building, though I intended to try Smashing it.
This is what the Imperials were faced with. Chaos numbers were telling. There was I think 140 Zombies alone.
And that's that. It only went to Turn 4, but by that point it was fairly obvious Chaos had won the day... and everyone was ready to call it a day. Good fun.

Battle Report, Chaos vs Salamanders
It's been awhile since I've done a 40K Battle Report, largely because it's been some time since there have been two painted armies on the board at the FLGS! Things in my area of the woods have been in flux, and it's more likely I'll bring you Infinity reports than 40K ones in the near future.
Still, last Saturday I got to duke it out with a new local, Spencer. (Haven't gotten around to naming him yet - it'll happen.) Anyway, I won't waste too much page-space on words; instead it's big pictures, little captions time.

I'm playing a basic CSM list, which I discussed a few posts back. Spencer has a nifty Vulcan list, naturally chock full of Melta and Flamer weapons.

Still Hunting the Escaped Muse...
...but in the meantime, I actually play some games.
I played Sam's Legion warband with my new Circle force. Unfortunately, things went a bit downhill after this picture, but I'm learning!
This a week ago this past Saturday, I met a dude named Spencer, a recent transplant to my North Texas next of the woods - from a much cooler city. Anyway, I invited him to the local store, Galaxy Books and Comics, for a game. I brought Footdar, mostly because it's a painted army.
The Dreadknight deep strikes from behind...
...while the Terminators advance.
I won't go into the game too much - I didn't take enough pictures for that - but it was a good game, with the advantage seemingly locked up for the Grey Knights with the arrival of the Storm Talon and Paladins.
I really should have taken more damage than I did during Spencer's shooting. He wasn't that familiar with the Eldar, so spend maybe a bit too much shooting at Elle-drag's Seers, who naturally had Fortune.
And so the game ends dramatically, with the last two Paladins fighting it out with the Avatar and Elle-drag.
Fun to be had by all!
...but my muse is still missing. More on that to come.

Somebody Else's Daemons, Again
Back into the painting schedule, and currently working on multiple elements of the Little Tim That Could's Daemons army.
Maybe he should be 'That Can' - his constant practice is paying off in wins.
We played on Saturday, with me breaking out my old CSM army to see how well it stands up in 5th.

Video: Terrain as Per the Book in a 2K Game
The Mighty Mighty Carlos and I played a game last week at 2K; me with Sisters and allied Eldar and he with double Bastions and Imperial Fists.
My 2K Sisters has four squads of Sisters of Battle, four Exorcists, Jacobus with Crusaders and Assassins, Celestine, a Farseer (for psychic defense and jankiness), Pathfinders, and a Fortification with a Quad Gun.

Necron on Necron Hate Crime
I'm still in the test phase of developing my Necron army... but I'm not just sitting around reading the book on the toilet - though I'm doing a bit of that...
...or even playtesting variations of the army - thought I'm doing a bit of that...
...or even reading blogs online to see where others are taking their ideas... though I'm doing a bit of that, too.
More than all that, I've been getting a chance to play Tinfoil Hat Tim, the man formerly known as a number. And before that, Farseer Tim. And before that, Tim.
And before that, Little Timmy then Baby Timmy - they get the idea. Move on.
Ya see, I don't have to try out stuff he's already trying. I'll just see how it performs for him. To that end, me and THT threw down twice this weekend. (Also, I played the Mighty Mighty Carlos and the Master Manipulator (every store needs one) over the last week; I'll drop those battle reports here soon.)

Carolina Comics Tournament Highlights
Weekend before last I took my Necrons through the paces at their first tournament. It was a small affair, only ten players, but the perfect opportunity to refine my approach to competitive play.
I had some issues with the Daemon Prince and Greater Daemon. Never did kill that darn Greater Daemon!
