The Gun Shy Storm Raven... (just 'cause)

For better or worse, here's the updated Storm Raven.

I've only just started this marine army, but here's what I've got - all the test models, as it were.  The Gun Shy will be the only Storm Raven in the army, 'cause I'll be darned if I'm going through all this again.

The main changes were adding the larger wings, building up the undercarriage - including the landing gear system - and updating the color scheme to match the army's new look.

For comparison, here's the first version, lovingly dubbed the Storm Buster by Dethtron.

Great looking conversion. The first split-second I saw the side photo I thought it was a tuk-tuk.

Have you ever heard the term Butterface? It actually it a nice conversion but then we get back to the 'nose' design...

I'd be failing in my unicorn duties if I weren't honest with you.

Also, next year put a hobby knife and drill on your christmas wishlist.. Cause flashlines and undrilled barrels aren't your friend.

But to close on a high note the first picture is pretty dramatic and actually a great pic, I approve!

Forgive my ignorance, good sir, but is that a do-it-yourself Chapter or did you go with an existing Chapter?

As to the Gun Shy, I quite like it. It is most certainly beefy enough to be produced by the Imperium and the green vents(?) give the impression of armored shutters which could be closed in the event of a contested landing, right? And since we're talking about Astartes here, I would assume most landings will be contested.

Me likey.

New and improved..now with wings. Seriously. Ok maybe not all that improved. I am still not too hip on the design. If you are going for being different than others..congratz you got it. You could also have got different by dumping all the parts in a bag, squeeze in some model glue, and shake.

It is better than the first venture....

MM(esno): I'm shaking something your way right now...

I bet it is fairly inappropriate too!

Brent said...

Ha! Only if shaking one's bag is considered inappropriate... have we gotten to that sad place in this country?

looks like it's gone from suck to blow :)

Dethtron Wins!

As in suck off or blow me? :)

Master Manipulator (every store needs one) said...

WOW!!! I am so ashamed that I did not go there first! I must be slipping.

Dethtron said...

as in it used to suck and now it blows. Have you seriously never seen space balls?

Brent said...

...no, though that makes more sense!

I figured you were being clever, since - you know - it's you, but it went over my head so I tried to puzzle it out.

Is it worth watching?

Space Balls the Flamethrower FTW!

nice conversion work but the design looks kinda like a delorean mixed with an xwing....the wings jus dont seem to mesh with it, look kinda like an afterthought and the front end...well yeah...

Definitely better Brent. :)

(A new favorite!) Anon: I haven’t even bothered playing a game of 6th yet, cause I have read the rules, and actually understand how they interact with units. I know my armies no longer function how they should, and so I need to change them.

Not Brent hurts Brent's feelings.

I think, therefore I blog.

"You should stop writing for everyone else and worry about your crappy blog." - Anon.

Not Brent has been spotted lurking around with a green marker.

He's not like a bad guy from a cartoon, all devious but never quite evil, Not Brent is bad beans, man, bad beans.

Dethtron: "Again I feel obliged to remind you that trying to sound smart only works if you are."

MVB: "I am not one to join the unwashed masses of self-titled 40k experts out there distributing advice from their blogs about exactly how your list should be built..."

On Internet Advice: You see, I have an almost religious belief that's it's a huge, colossal waste of time.

...I think I'll call it the Gun Shy Pattern Stormbuster, because after the Internet destroyed my first humble effort, I find I'm a bit worried about the reaction to this one.

Lauby: "Is it left over from that time you thought that you could just complete step one 12 times to meet the mandates of that court order?"

Not Brent: "I guess we'll have to read on and find out. Signed, Not Brent. Especially today."

Cynthia Davis: "I think the scrolling text is from Glen Beck's new book."

Grimaldi: "Spamming certain units creates interesting possibilities but also fatal weaknesses."

Purgatus: "Math can inform decisions. It cannot make decisions."

Thoughts? Comments? Hugs and gropings?

You'd be that much quicker to figure out what I mean when I refer to a Unicorn if I covered it in a rainbow flag.

SinSynn: (To Brent) "Curse you and your insidious influence on the internets..."

Dave G (N++): "You know you're an internet celebrity when your following is more akin to tabloids."

I prefer the term Internet Personality (or IP) myself, seeing as how I coined it.

Lauby: "Your attempt to humanize him as failed. I feel nothing but scorn for his beard - it's like a warcrime or something."

BBF: "I've always thought you are a good player but I finally figured out that you are a great player. It's hard to see sometimes because your personality is engaging, sincere and quite charming - to me that is kind of a rare combination."

'Clearly cheating?' I didn't misspeak: you jumped to conclusions. If you'd like to apologize I'll be happy to send you an autographed picture of my ass.

Ass.
