Well, who saw this coming?
After reading the comments from my basing article I'd have to say, well, everyone but me, I suppose.
I was happy with my quick and easy flocking, but much like anything quick and easy...
(a certain ex-wife)
...the crap you get afterward means it just ain't worth it! :)
I decided to take the leap into a more advanced basing technique. Here was my purchase at the store earlier this week.
I wasn't sure if I had to clean these bases - are they resin? Anyway, I did it anyway, then pulled out the paint stick.
This isn't that great a picture, since the flash washed out the detail, but basically I used spray paints (black, brown, light brown, light green) to layer some interesting color across all the bases. The next step is to... take the next step!
The only downside is I can't use the models until the bases and the models are both all painted; no games until they're done.

Good work Brent, it'll be worth it in the end
I usually paint the model separate on a temporaty base and then glue it together with epoxy glue. I like what you've done already.
I agree with Antipope. When I used the resin bases for my Black Templar I painted the models on a plain plastic base first. That way I could still use them while I was working on the army. Then once I had the model done I would pin it down to the resin base.
My Retribution are just the opposite. The models are glued to the Resin, painted on the resin then I paint the base. I prime them all together.
I love resin bases. I used them for my last army and I don't think I will go back.
What bases are those in the picture from? They look good.
I feel as though I sparked all of this off. Dude I'm sorry!
