Bugs! Update: Tervibug with Magus

I've been working on tomorrow's Bell article, which deals with my Adepticon Daemons army, so this is just a quick Bugs! update.

I may have mentioned, but there was a method to my madness.  The Tervibug was (pulled from a shaken bag of bits and glue) designed to accommodate a Magus.  The whole model is my updated version of the Genestealer's original fluff, where they infest a planet and implant the residents... and before too long Daddy's bouncing baby boy is a Hybrid!  Give it a few generations and you've got a Magus running the Cult...

...and of course, he'll send one of his kids to ITT Tech to learn how to build Limousines.  The Magus wants to ride in style!

I won't go into it - either you're familiar with the fluff or you aren't - but the point is my Tervibug doesn't poop out Termites, he sends out a signal to all the Hybrids to show up and throw down!

All those are on the workbench now.

The list?  Who's asking about the army list - I can't see you in the back there?!

I have some ideas.  The Tyranids have some major design flaws.  I don't disagree with Evil Homer and Farseer Tim who believe a Horde option is the optimal design build... the problem I have is Hordes don't win tournaments.

Hordes can be hard to beat but they have a hard time winning.  That's a generalization, but there's truth there.  If your army can't consistently finish games, you're going to have a hard time beating four players in a row.

My thoughts on my Bugs! is to combat that with a (perhaps) suboptimal but aggressive build where I play to my strengths.  I'm not there yet, but currently it involves numerous Genestealers infiltrating onto the board.

That's been done, but I have some tricks in mind...

It's an unusual take, but I see it. Blending the old and new seems a good thing, for the best of all worlds.

Looks great. I always like the cult idea.

And to be honest, there's nothing like the fear of genestealers reserve flanking to ruin a strategy. If you can't trust your flanks, it forces you to bunch up in the center - maybe play to that? flanking and templates. If they don't bunch up, then your stealers are within charge range as soon as they come in from reserve.

Don't play nids, but my buddy does, and this was always my fear.

Yo! Been loving the Tyranids stuff- makes at least two people playing them in tournaments.

Need any more hybrid genestealers? I've got about six or so left over and not going to be used. Need to be stripped, but other then that good to go.

Yes!

I would love to get my hands on them, and I'd give them a loving home!

Loving seeing this theme being done. Any idea how you're going to paint them yet? Or just working on building for now?

well whatever you do...I'm sure it'll be amusing!
Tyranids can't be hugged or groped though- too spikey.

Not for nuthin' Brent, but why do the 'verification words' on this site...oddly appropriate?
Today I got 'vathra.' What IS that? Some sorta evil Hindu diety?

And the other day I got 'whiner.'
How do you DO THAT?
This is what I'm sayin'....stop pullin' yer weird hodoo-voodo on the internets, man...

SinSynn said...

"seem.'
I forgot the word 'seem' prior to 'oddly appropriate.'
Your fault.

WTF?....'sharke'?
Stop it, dude...yer freakin' me out...

Sin: you know you can set those, right?

I did that all for you, you know...

(A new favorite!) Anon: I haven’t even bothered playing a game of 6th yet, cause I have read the rules, and actually understand how they interact with units. I know my armies no longer function how they should, and so I need to change them.

I think, therefore I blog.

Not Brent has been spotted lurking around with a green marker.

He's not like a bad guy from a cartoon, all devious but never quite evil, Not Brent is bad beans, man, bad beans.

On Internet Advice: You see, I have an almost religious belief that's it's a huge, colossal waste of time.
