Adepticon Championships, Game 4

So, here we are, Game 4 - my worry at this point was making sure I didn't choke.  Seriously.  Because otherwise it would have been a long ride home!

My opponent in this game had a beautiful Kharn-lead Berzerkers army.  It was the most optimized version of this army, in my opinion, and given my the dude was an experienced tournament player I figured he knew how to use it!

Still, I'll admit I was satisfied with the draw, because this is the type of army mine is designed to play, a straight-forward Meq powerhouse.

We're playing for Objectives, Kill Points, and... something else.  He deploys in a tight formation, protecting his Defilers from shooting.

Yea, they light up!
I concentrate on the right flank with my Fiends and Daemon Princes...

...while dropping Horrors on the extreme left.  My Icon isn't committed yet, but by spreading out I'm forcing him to make some decisions.

This is the right flank.  Here they come!

He sends two units to the left flank.  I like this move - if he can hold up a good portion of my army on the right, he can defeat the left and win the game.
So I drop more units over here.  This is an example of why I think Daemons Deployment is an advantage.
This is as good a time as any to mention the only pure mistake I made on Friday.  In this picture, you can see I dropped a Herald behind his lines with the obvious intention of shooting the Rhino in the vulnerable rear armor.

Then I promptly forgot he was there.  My opponent turns a Rhino and heads back to pound this Herald into the dirt.  Given that I also lost a Herald to a Mishap, I was down two models for nothing.

I end up winning the right flank, including putting a beating on Kharn.
He has a unit of Lesser Daemons drop on the objective, and they wisely get in cover to hold it.  Yup, there go the 'Zerkers to kill my Herald - darn it all!
Here's an overview.  He's playing tight, which is correct here I think.
Here's the right flank.  The Fiends closest to the camera just dropped in, and the ones in combat with the Defiler are sort of hiding out.  This was the move someone on Bell said was cheating.
Here's an interesting view of the action - I guess I was being artsy.  By this point I have a firm grasp on the game.
The remaining Herald survived the Berserkers and received some help from the Fiends.  I start spreading out to hold objectives.  I still have two units of Fiends deep in my opponent's army...

...as seen here.

Here's the shakedown of that assault.
The Daemon Prince and the Land Raider are problematic, 'cause it keeps eating units!
Still, by this point I have them to spare.  I actually can't remember if I brought it down or not.
Things are quiet on the front.  Here I'm firmly in control of two objectives (the Rhinos are wrecked)...
...and here's a third on the right flank, which I fought over right from the beginning.
I was pretty tired by the time I played this game and it was a comfort just to finish.  Still, my opponent was a good sportsman and a fine player - not to mention, his army rocked!  I was pretty glad, because that made 4 for 4 games without incident.

All of my opponent's were great sports, regardless of if they were winning or losing at various points in the game.  My hats off to them!

I have to say that of all the tables I've seen so far, this is my favorite set of terrain. Lots of nice LOS blocking terrain without being obtrusive. Looks fairly easy to make, too.

Hey Brent!
I liked this batrep, dude!
Firstly...either your opponent painted his Tank headlights the brightest white I've ever seen, or they actually light up?
(or you have a wacky camers?)

Secondly, pinpointing your mistake, pointing it out, and learning from it- that's what it's all about, right? Live 'n' learn, baby...

Lastly- cuz 'thirdly' is kinda a weird word- looked like a good game!
That Khorne army was really nice!

(A new favorite!) Anon: I haven’t even bothered playing a game of 6th yet, cause I have read the rules, and actually understand how they interact with units. I know my armies no longer function how they should, and so I need to change them.

I think, therefore I blog.

Not Brent has been spotted lurking around with a green marker.

He's not like a bad guy from a cartoon, all devious but never quite evil, Not Brent is bad beans, man, bad beans.

On Internet Advice: You see, I have an almost religious belief that's it's a huge, colossal waste of time.

...I think I'll call it the Gun Shy Pattern Stormbuster, because after the Internet destroyed my first humble effort, I find I'm a bit worried about the reaction to this one.

Ass.

I thought I was doing alright before I realized I was losing.
