Just my luck. I finish my Storm Raven a day after it's announced GW is producing one. I have another kit; I intended to photo a walk-through on another model if there was any interest - now I'm not so sure.
Don't get me wrong, I like the model and am proud of it - I think I've just spent too much time looking at the damn thing over the last three weeks. I'll put it away for awhile until I'm inspired to try it out on the table.
A few notes... I built this model as a kit-bash. I wanted a model that anyone could build with a minimum of fuss, but it still had to look as if it could transport Marines and would actually transport a Dreadnought. I also wanted the ability to switch out weapons, but more I wanted there to be a spot for a sponson Hurricane Bolter, and the spot I left is in front of the side doors. Were I to add the sponson, I'd have the door open up and down rather than to the left.
Enough talk - I hope you like it.

Beautiful. I would genuinely love to see a post on how you made this.
Very cool. I second the motion for a post telling what went where.
I also really like the way the Dread is magnetized and carried in the open, ready to drop into action.
{^}
A how to would be great.
Well you will always have a unique model, and it looks cool.
Plus, you can still live it up while there are only a handful of Stormravens in existence.
Too bad GW's releasing one with the Gray Knights codex :D :P :)
Looks great, by the way.
Might be a *tad* bit too small for 15 assault troops judging by the scale of the 90% of the parts I recognize.
Well....I think I might leave this one alone. I can not echo the comments above, and once I get started I am not sure I can stop!!
where was it announced GW is producing one?? I'm just in the middle of my own build :(
Gauthic: Why? Have you seen the Rhino chassis? Or even a Wave Serpent or Land Raider, for that matter!
I've never thought GW's tanks were scaled to the models that well; to that end, I tried to make sure it was equitable with the current Imperial tanks.
MM(esno): That doesn't surprise me. I was hoping you'd like it, of course, but over the years I've developed a sense for what you'll like and what you won't.
Cozmo - Bell had a post up about it the other day. I don't have the link, offhand, but basically the Grey Knights Codex has been pushed up and the Dark Eldar pushed back.
The Storm Raven is slated for production then.
That's all scuttlebutt, of course - but it seems pretty solid.

Jump packs are bulky :)
While I quite like the 'predatory' feel (shark or piranha*-esque) I simply hate the way the Dread is being carried. Sorry - I simply cannot stand that concept. If GW does it, then I'll be very disappointed.
* - I am aware 99% of Piranhas are vegetarian, but, aesthetically, a born predator. lol
Don't worry King - I'd be disappointed if GW did it that way too.
I'd like to think they could do better than a magnet on the back of a kit-bash!
I, however, can't. It's the best solution I could come up with, given I wanted to actually be able to carry a Dreadnought.
My first thought was to have a mounting bracket from above, but I didn't like the idea of the Dreadnought having a magnet stuck on his head. I can live with both models having one stuck on the back.

Looks like a fancy dust pan. Did Oreck make that thing? Just kidding, no not really. Looks like you put a lot of effort in to it, so screw it as long as it works.
Doug has two built that he brought to the store that you have got to see. Unreal!
Hey Brent, sorry took me a while to reply, I know I promised one :P.
For a kitbash...well done. Not what I envisioned for the Storm Raven but is a very nice looking model and as gerbil said, you'll always have a unique one!
Really good work mate.
Thanks Kirbs - you hit the nail on the head.
I never intended to make a model that looks like what I believe GW will ultimately design for the Storm Raven, but rather I wanted to build a workable substitute.
With my skill-set, there was only so much I'd be able to do, so I went with clean lines.
I'm happy with it.

As I mentioned on my blog, yours is the first Stormraven I approve of.
It looks different, but it also looks mean. Plus, a huge plus, it isn't a flying Raider of fail.
Not sure what people expect a Dreadnought to do but as GW will have an enclosure for the Dread (which means higher model prices), well you'll see when it's released.
Kudos to you, Brent. Job well done.
As long as you don't in any way take my hatred for that design feature as disparaging your good self! <3
It's like the profile of a Battlewagon, lol - It just feels wrong. :)
Thanks Stelek - I appreciate that.
King: No worries mate, I didn't take it as such. I knew it was going to be a 'love it or hate it' model.
Brent
I personally would sling a Valkyrie cockpit on top of the ramp, but it looks like you used the cockpit floor already. Anyways, NOT a flying Raider of fail always helps!! :D
I love the use of what appears to be a whirlwind kit in there?
