Warmachine Tournament: Game I

I'm taking my Menoth, Amon Ad-Raza list against Gauthic's Striker Cygnar.  It's fair to say this game went entirely may way... until it didn't.

...and moving out.  We're collecting points for controlling the circles.

His line moves up.  Notice the left?  I'll end up using Impervious Wall the entire time, making my Paladin immune to the Storm-Dudes Infantry Unit.  Stalemate... but I got a point out of it before then!

His Heavy eyes the center.

I grab it first.  Now I'm collecting points and Gauthic will remain behind unless he can get me off and keep me off.

He counterattacks and I counterattack.  I'm winning on every level.

Until he sneaks around and shoots Amon in his *SELF-EDIT*-*SELF-EDIT* head.  Game over!
Gauthic was feeling pretty crappy about his army until this.  Then he's like, "Oh, that's how it works," and wins the tournament.

You're welcome, G.

"oh that's how it works"

EXACTLY! it was just an epiphany oh the very basic game strategies. I had the mechanics & probabilities all figured out in minutes, but the game plays so differently than other war-games.

Yours was the only one I had a caster kill. I still feel ba about being so emotional over it.

Hahaha Im a newb and I know a Charger with a few focus points on it can be nasty.

But this is a sort of mistake people that have experience in war gaming but are new to Warmahordes. Not being sure what can or cant smoke your caster and knowing how to see it coming.

Its sort of like chess- except no one tells you 'Check!' before they try to rape your caster. Its more like their inner maegalomaniac is rubbing thier hands together and doing their best 'MWAHAHAHHAHAHAhhaaa...hahahahaaha...ha....HA!'

But thats part of the fun of the game, constantly trying to figure out how to kill the other guys caster- balanced with trying to achieve any other objectives for the scenario.

I think that mighta been where ole' Amon went wrong- got too focused on taking & holding those circles and got surprised. Well, that- and them durty menites deserve to be shot :p

i hate to ask, but when are we going to see more 4ok

(A new favorite!) Anon: I haven’t even bothered playing a game of 6th yet, cause I have read the rules, and actually understand how they interact with units. I know my armies no longer function how they should, and so I need to change them.

I think, therefore I blog.
