These two Ultramarine armies were at a large tournament I went to - oh, 5 years back? 4? not sure - in Abilene. Must have been some time ago, since I played my 13th Company. I have poor memories of that one; it was where I learned to hate soft scores. I was the only one with 4 straight wins but missed best general because, get this, the judges who scored painting were literally off the street with no gaming experience! They gave me poor marks for 'dirty' painting; as you can imagine, it was supposed to be. This second Ultramarines picture, the one with the blue dice, was literally outscored by a dipped Eldar army. Fun stuff. Anyway, I remember there was talk about which of these armies was better painted. I think it's obvious myself.
This one is from the recent Lone Wolf in Dallas, the only large Fantasy tournament I've attended. This army was amazing; I'm sure a lot of readers (Hi Mom) are familiar with it from the pages of White Dwarf... you know, before it became a $10 catalog.
Shannon finally did it! Well, almost. He's not quite finished with the DP's, but this is literally the first army he's painted. Bang up job too.
And these are from my collection. I'm thinking about repainting them for my Homage Army (the one with all the old shit), but they wouldn't match the two Dreadnoughts in it. Still, it's under consideration for BOLSCON.
