Grayscale for Dummies, Part II

It's Sunday!  Off Topical II, The Second Date, is online and I can put my Neurobiology and Pharmacology paper off until tomorrow, so today is mine, mine, mine!

So, I've added the contrast to my Chaos Knight of Nurgle, as suggested by you, my chickies.  Basically, I repainted the chain mail sections in bright silver.  I also further highlighted the shield, sections of armor, and the horns.  I redid the sword almost completely.  The grayscale is K.Blas' suggestion for viewing contrast.

Grayscale, for contrast.
The model with additional work.
The original model.
In other news, many of you know I'm attending Da Boyz GT in November, a heavily comp'd tournament.  It's been three forevers since I've played an event where I had to consider my army selection so closely, and I'll admit it's causing me problems.  Luckily, the judges realize this is different for some folks so they allow preselection scoring.

I've sent my 'standard' 1850 tournament for scoring.  I'll cover more on that later, but Goatboy's Daemons list scored only 40 points... which is very, very low.

  1. Brent, this second attempt is spot on in my opinion. I'm loving the sword gradient, the bright shield and finally that you left the straps green. I feel that it adds a certain "weight" to the image (painting), making you start at the bottom make a nice progression around to the other important parts of the mini, and finally end up looking at the base.
